1. While Repairs are Underway (Current Status)
• Boil Your Water: Due to the break, harmful bacteria may have entered the system. Bring all water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before using it for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, or washing dishes.
• Boiling vs. Asbestos: Boiling water kills bacteria but does not remove asbestos fibers. While we believe levels are minimal, we recommend using the drinking water resources listed below until flushing is complete.
• Avoid Using Hot Water: Using hot water while the system is compromised can draw sediment and fibers into your water heater.

A Note on Asbestos Safety
We want to reassure residents that we believe the amount of asbestos fibers potentially entering the water system is very limited. We strictly abide by all DEQ (Department of Environmental Quality) rules and recommendations and are working very closely with them to manage this repair and the subsequent testing. Our priority is ensuring the water meets all safety standards before the advisory is lifted.
