The Mayor and City Council for the City of Potlatch met in a Special Council Meeting on March 24, 2020. Mayor Brown signed a Local Emergency Proclamation and Resolution 2020-03-24 as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak. Even though there have been no confirmations of the virus within the City the Mayor and Council felt strongly to be proactive in trying to slow the spread if the virus within our community. The City will closely monitor Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines and recommendations from the Governor’s Office. The City of Potlatch recommends businesses to follow the CDC guidelines and for essential businesses to use their best judgement – the grocery store, pharmacy, clinic and gas stations need to use the recommended guidelines from CDC.
Potlatch City Hall will remain closed to the public. People can make utility payments on-line, over the phone with a credit card or use the drop box at the rear of City Hall by the parking lot.
All future City Council meetings are still on schedule but the City will be following all CDC’s recommendations.
All essential City services such as Fire, Police, Water, Sewer and Sanitation services will remain open.
Depending on the spread of the virus, the City has reserved its options to set in motion more measures if necessary. The Mayor and Council encourage people to stay at home if not feeling well or are able to work from home.
